Haunted Castle Tours
History and Horror Tours now run a ghost tour around Menzies Castle near Aberfeldy. These tours have been running for about a year and a half and have proved very popular. The tour is fast becoming known as ‘the scariest ghost tour in Scotland’, as something paranormal happens on almost every tour.
The present Menzies Castle was built in the 1500’s on the site of an earlier castle destroyed by a rival clan. It has a turbulent past with many dark deeds having occurred within the castle walls, resulting in Menzies Castle having many active spirits. These include a Gray Lady, three Red Coat Soldiers, ghostly children and a very angry Clan Chief to name but a few!
On the tour, our cloaked guide (a dead Body Snatcher) will take you around this old spooky building and tell ghost stories from the castle and surrounding area. Paranormal occurrences that have taken place on past tours will also be discussed as well as anything else which happens as we take the tour.
We have recorded incidents of figures seen by members of the public on the tour, footsteps heard, strange smells appearing suddenly, many orbs caught, people feeling watched and being touched by an unseen presence. Also, over 40 people witnessed a strange light which hovered above one of our tour groups.
People have come under physical spirit attack in the castle so we have to protect the group before we can start the tour (I have never known any other ghost tour to do this).
History and Horror Tours have no ‘Jumper outers’ at Castle Menzies, we just tell the stories and let this very active castle play it’s own part.
Please be aware that the tour is done in the dark, torches are provided for use on the stair and between rooms only, so the tour is not suitable for young children.
