Stockport Market and Paranormal Investigation Live.
We have had a busy few weeks, Lynne and I travelled down to Stockport to do our executioner show during the 750 anniversary for the towns market.
On the Saturday the Market was in full swing so we were set up amongst the shoppers, telling them stories of punishments and executions in days gone by, I played the part of a hangman brought down from Scotland and Lynne was one of my victims a woman about to be beheaded for petty treason (killing her husband). After her execution she became my ghostly helper and spent most of her time wearing the branks (scolds bridal) and thumbscrews. despite the rain it was quite busy and seemed to go down well.
On the Sunday the market was closed and medieval stalls were brought in. It was a lot busier and we were put by the towns Dungeons which usually shut had been opened for the day. we played in front of our biggest crowds ever, two of our three hour long shows had around 100 people watching. It went down very well with loads of group participation. People were pulled out and branded or whipped. After the shows we took part in the parade which was very enjoyable despite the cold. We received a letter from Stockport Council thanking us for our participation which was very nice.
On Halloween weekend we visited the set of Paranormal Investigation Live on Living TV. This was after being involved in helping the production team which were looking for information on Castle Menzies. We were given permission to take photos and taken around the set. The programmed itself got a lot of comparisons to Most Haunted, which was always going to happen and is a little unfair. The two are very different, Paranormal Investigation involved two ghost hunting teams going around the castle looking for evidence on the paranormal. One team using modern high tech equipment, the other more traditional methods. Although there is room for improvement I hope it is given a chance.
